Israel Signs NIS 67 Million Deal with IWI for Advanced Negev Machine Guns
The Negev UX machine gun, developed in cooperation with the IDF, proved its effectiveness as a significant "force multiplier" in ground maneuver operations during the Swords of Iron War
The Israeli Ministry of Defense has signed a deal worth 67 million shekels with Israel Weapon Industries (IWI) for the procurement of advanced Negev 7 and Negev UX machine guns.
The agreement, set to be implemented between 2026 and 2027, aims to significantly expand the firepower capabilities of the IDF’s ground forces and provide a comprehensive maintenance framework to ensure long-term operational readiness.
The deal was signed by the Ministry’s Directorate of Procurement and Production (DOPP), through its Ground Procurement Deputy Directorate. The delivery of the 7.62mm caliber machine guns will include both supply and maintenance services.
The Negev UX machine gun, developed in cooperation with the IDF, proved to be a major force multiplier during the "Iron Swords" war, thanks to its combination of lightweight design, mobility, and high firepower.
This procurement is part of Israel's broader effort to strengthen its local defense manufacturing base, ensuring immediate operational support for the IDF while bolstering its long-term readiness over the next decade.
The new machine guns will enhance the IDF’s maneuvering forces, enabling them to operate more effectively in complex combat zones, urban areas, and across varied engagement ranges.
