Israeli Loitering munitions manufacturer UVision Air Ltd announced a significant breakthrough in operational flexibility with the launch of a new airborne launch capability for the Hero-120 loitering munition from a variety of transport and attack helicopters. This development reflects UVision’s ongoing commitment to developing precise and adaptable strike solutions for the modern battlefield.

According to a publication by edrmagazine, the new capability—developed in collaboration with U.S. defense integrator Fulcrum Concepts LLC and Mistral Inc.—enables rotary platforms to deploy the Hero-120 without the need for deep integration with the helicopter’s avionics or fire control systems. This modular approach contributes to faster adaptation and deployment while reducing integration costs and time, making the system suitable for a wide range of existing helicopter models as well as future vertical lift programs, including those led by the U.S. government.

The new helicopter-launch capability provides a range of tactical advantages, including the ability to transfer control of the loitering munitions to ground forces for enhanced engagement of beyond-line-of-sight targets, and improved interoperability between air and ground units.

The system supports interchangeable warheads and payloads, enabling on-the-fly mission adaptation for operations against armored targets, soft targets, or for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions. Additionally, it is compatible with a wide array of Western and NATO-standard helicopters, from legacy platforms to next-generation aircraft, thereby allowing broad operational integration without significant modifications to the helicopters.

“This is a breakthrough in the lethality capabilities of helicopters,” said Dr. Ran Gozali, CEO of UVision. “For the first time, helicopters can deliver loitering munitions to multiple forces across the battlefield, enabling real-time target handover and expanding the range of mission capabilities—all without costly modifications to the helicopters.”
