Israel’s MoD to Collaborate with Private Rehab Center for PTSD Treatment Using Innovative Helmet
Villa Balance Center will be the first in Israel to offer treatment using BrainsWay technology, which is FDA-approved and has helped thousands of patients worldwide
The Israeli Ministry of Defense has signed a cooperation agreement with the Villa Balance rehabilitation center, under which innovative treatment using the groundbreaking BrainsWay helmet will be funded for military PTSD victims referred by the Ministry. Villa Balance will be the first private rehabilitation center in Israel to incorporate this technology as part of a comprehensive therapeutic approach.
The BrainsWay helmet, developed by an Israeli company, has received international recognition and approval from the U.S. FDA. According to reports, over 250,000 people worldwide have already been successfully treated using the technology. The treatment is based on Deep Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (Deep TMS), a registered patent. It offers a non-invasive and effective therapy, as demonstrated in cases of major depression and anxiety. The process involves magnetic stimulation of deep and broad areas of the brain.
This technology is currently available in more than 1,500 clinics worldwide, including in the United States, Europe, and Japan, with over five million treatments performed to date. In the U.S., treatment for depression and OCD using this technology is covered by all private and public health insurance providers. Over the past year, the Ministry of Defense’s Rehabilitation Department began funding this treatment for those recognized as suffering from PTSD due to their military service.
Alongside BrainsWay treatment, Villa Balance offers a comprehensive, personalized therapeutic framework tailored to military PTSD sufferers. The treatment plan includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which has been proven effective in reducing symptoms of anxiety and depression, as well as EMDR therapy for processing traumatic memories. In addition, mindfulness and relaxation techniques are integrated into the therapy. Patients participate in regular sessions with therapists specializing in PTSD among military personnel.
Yifat Vardi, Director of Villa Balance and a psychotherapist specializing in addiction and trauma, noted that the center offers dedicated therapeutic groups for combat veterans referred by the Ministry of Defense, as well as support groups for their family members—recognizing the importance of involving families in the healing process.
