Axon Vision’s AI Tech Chosen for Czech Army’s PANDUR 8x8 EVO Fleet
Israeli firm partners with CSG and Retia to deliver cutting-edge situational awareness systems, marking a major step in European armored vehicle modernization
Axon Vision, an Israeli provider of AI-driven situational awareness and decision-support solutions for defense and security applications, has announced that its EdgeSA AI-based situational awareness system has been selected for installation on the Czech Army’s PANDUR 8x8 EVO armored vehicles.
The company has signed a strategic partnership with Czechoslovak Group (CSG), one of Europe’s largest defense companies. This collaboration, led by CSG’s subsidiary Retia – a renowned defense technology provider – represents the first step in a broader initiative to modernize European armored vehicle fleets and pursue additional regional opportunities. Retia works closely with Tatra Defense Vehicle (TDV), the manufacturer of various armored platforms, including the PANDUR 8x8 EVO.
This strategic agreement follows a rigorous competitive evaluation process, during which Axon Vision’s technology demonstrated superior performance across all criteria. Retia has launched a new market brand, SAAV – Situational Awareness for Armored Vehicles – which includes not only EdgeSA but also the integration services required to adapt the system for various vehicle types.
According to Axon Vision, EdgeSA significantly enhances battlefield perception for armored vehicle crews, providing early threat warnings even during closed-hatch operations. By fusing data from multiple sensors in real time, the system reduces cognitive load on commanders and crew, automates target detection, and streamlines decision-making on the battlefield.
The agreement marks the beginning of a long-term collaboration between Axon Vision and Retia, positioning Axon Vision as a key partner in the modernization of European armored vehicle fleets. While the initial focus is on the PANDUR platform, the partnership also opens the door to integrating EdgeSA into other vehicles, such as the TADEAS 6x6 produced by TDV, and exploring further opportunities across Europe.
“Our AI-powered situational awareness technology is redefining armored vehicle operations, delivering real-time, actionable intelligence that maximizes survivability and mission effectiveness,” said Brig. Gen. (Ret.) Roy Riftin, CEO of Axon Vision. “This selection highlights Axon Vision’s growing presence in the European defense market and reinforces our role as a leading integrator of AI-driven defense solutions.
