The Turkish aerospace industry continues to impress: a new stealth jet-powered UAV manufactured by Baykar, the KIZILELMA, has successfully completed its first test flight.

The flight, designed to test the aerodynamic structure of the new platform, marks a significant step in developing advanced military capabilities for Turkey. The new UAV, specially designed for takeoffs and landings from aircraft carriers and other naval platforms, is expected to significantly enhance the Turkish Navy's capabilities.

According to a World Defense News report, the KIZILELMA is powered by a turbojet engine, allowing it to reach speeds close to the speed of sound. The UAV is equipped with an afterburner for additional thrust, an advanced AESA radar, jamming and electronic warfare capabilities, and a variety of weapon systems, including precision-guided munitions and air-to-ground missiles. The report also mentions the numerous autonomous systems integrated into the platform.

The first flight took place at Baykar's training and testing facility. During the flight, the UAV's stability, maneuverability, guidance capabilities, and performance at various altitudes and speeds were tested. According to the company, these flights are critical for evaluating the aerodynamic properties of a new unmanned aerial platform.

The KIZILELMA project began in 2021 and represents a significant investment by Turkey in developing advanced military capabilities. The UAV, classified as a large and stealthy platform with unique maneuvering capabilities, is designed to play a central role in the Turkish Navy, particularly with its ability to operate from aircraft carriers and carry a substantial payload of weapon systems.

The completion of the first test flight marks an important milestone in the UAV's development and brings Turkey closer to realizing its vision in the field of military UAVs.
