BIRD Aerosystems, an Israeli provider of defense technology and solutions, has announced a follow-on order from a NATO client for its Aeroshield missile protection system, which includes the SPREOS (Self Protection Radar Electro-Optic System) DIRCM, to safeguard VIP Dassault Falcon 7X and Airbus A319 aircraft. Delivery is expected in 2025.

According to BIRD, SPREOS is a DIRCM system designed for missile approach protection, capable of detecting, tracking, confirming, and countering missile threats. It provides precise defense against MANPADS threats and integrates seamlessly with various missile warning systems. The AMPS solution ensures comprehensive protection against ground-to-air threats, including MANPADS attacks, for helicopters and VVIP aircraft used by heads of state.

Matan Perry, Chief of Marketing and VP Sales at BIRD Aerosystems, stated that the system is scheduled to complete its STC certification on the G-700 and Global 7500 aircraft in 2025.

In March 2024, the company had installed its advanced SPREOS DIRCM and Aeroshield missile protection systems on multiple Airbus A319 aircraft for an undisclosed European customer.
