Plasan Sasa, an Israeli manufacturer specializing in survivability solutions for land, air, and naval platforms in the defense and military markets, has announced the signing of a new contract with Hanwha Aerospace to deliver protection kits for howitzers intended for a country in Eastern Europe.

Based on our assessment, the contract likely involves the supply of protection kits for 54 K9 self-propelled howitzers (SPHs) and 36 K10 ammunition resupply vehicles (ARVs) purchased by Romania from the South Korean company in mid-2024. This procurement, part of a deal estimated at approximately $1 billion, reflects growing defense cooperation between the parties involved.

This agreement extends the ongoing collaboration between Plasan and Hanwha Aerospace in the development of passive protection for Hanwha's vehicles. At the end of 2022, the companies signed a cooperation agreement for the supply of protection kits for 30 Huntsman AS9 self-propelled howitzers (SPHs) acquired by the Australian Army.

Additionally, Plasan provides passive armor protection for 129 Redback infantry fighting vehicles, purchased by the Australian Army from Hanwha in a $2.6 billion deal.
