IDF Launches Operation Iron Wall in West Bank

A large-scale military operation began yesterday (Monday) in the Jenin area, aimed at maintaining the IDF's freedom of action in Judea and Samaria and neutralizing terror infrastructure that threatens regional security. The operation, named "Iron Wall," is being conducted in cooperation with Shin Bet and Border Police forces and includes the use of special forces and advanced engineering equipment. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu emphasized that this is a broad-scale operation, stating, "Our actions are far from over."

The operation commenced with aerial strikes, as advanced drones targeted terrorist cells attempting to plant explosive devices on key routes. Subsequently, IDF ground forces entered the area, accompanied by heavy engineering equipment, including D9 bulldozers, tasked with uncovering and neutralizing explosives planted along strategic roads. Security officials highlighted that the IDF is dealing with highly potent explosives capable of causing severe damage to armored vehicles.

Kfir Brigade fighters joined the operation in the evening as part of the overall operational effort. In recent days, the IDF has significantly reinforced its presence throughout Judea and Samaria, focusing on cities such as Ramallah, Al-Bireh, and Jenin. As a result of the operation, roads in the area were closed, and additional forces were deployed to maintain control of the region.

According to security sources, the operation was already in the making for an extended period but was expedited following a shooting attack in the village of Funduq over the weekend. The attack, in which Israeli civilians were injured, was among the factors leading the security-political cabinet to authorize the operation. Prime Minister Netanyahu stated, "This action is essential to ensuring the security of Israeli citizens, and we will act decisively against any entity attempting to destabilize the region."

During the clashes in Jenin, the Palestinian Ministry of Health reported that eight Palestinians were killed and over 35 injured. Meanwhile, operational activities continue in various locations across Judea and Samaria, with the IDF conducting ongoing assessments to achieve the operation's objectives.

IDF sources stated that the military activity will continue as long as necessary, emphasizing that the forces are prepared for any scenario. The defense establishment warned of a potential escalation in the area but stressed its determination to thwart security threats and safeguard regional stability.
