Elbit Supplies Laser Target Markers for the German Army
Other NATO forces have also already opted for the Rattler XR as a successor and replacement system for their respective equipment

Elbit Systems Germany announced the commencement of scheduled deliveries of its Rattler XR laser target markers to the German Armed Forces in late November 2024. Initially, the German Army will receive a limited number of these new laser target markers to address an urgent operational need.
The German website Hartpunkt notes that other NATO forces have also selected the Rattler XR as a successor and replacement for their existing systems.
According to Elbit, the Rattler XR addresses compatibility issues previously encountered during joint exercises and operations with friendly nations. It also offers a significantly enhanced performance range. Key features include high laser power with reduced beam divergence, integrated laser visibility ("see-spot"), and a spillover alarm designed to prevent target misses, thereby improving mission success rates. The system has an effective laser target marking range of 10 km.
Thanks to its open communication architecture, the Rattler XR seamlessly integrates with other systems and sensors, such as thermal imaging devices. This capability enables comprehensive reconnaissance and target marking operations both day and night.
