Iran Attacks Israel with Ballistic Missiles
This marks the second attack within six months, with the previous strike in April involving hundreds of missiles and drones, most of which were intercepted. Seven Israelis were murdered in a terror attack in Jaffa
In an unprecedented attack last night, Iran launched over 180 ballistic missiles toward Israel. This marks the second attack within six months, with the previous strike in April involving hundreds of missiles and drones, most of which were intercepted.
This time, however, the results were different. Footage shared on social media shows that several missiles managed to breach Israel's air defense system. Nevertheless, reports from the IDF and Magen David Adom indicate only a few minor injuries and no fatalities.
Deadly Terror Attack in Tel Aviv
Simultaneously with the missile strikes, a deadly attack occurred in Tel Aviv. Two armed terrorists, reportedly from Hebron, opened fire on passengers of the light rail. Security personnel and police on the scene managed to neutralize the assailants, but not before they killed seven Israelis. Additionally, four people were critically injured.
Iran's Revolutionary Guards' Response
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility for the missile attack, stating it was in retaliation for the killing of Hassan Nasrallah and other senior officials, according to Iran’s Tasnim News Agency. This attack coincides with Israel's limited ground invasion of southern Lebanon, which has significantly escalated regional tensions and raised concerns about further destabilization in the Middle East.
Threat of Additional Iranian Retaliation
Following the missile launch, Iran's UN delegation released a statement declaring that the attack was in response to the "terrorist actions of the Zionist regime." The statement, also shared on Platform X (formerly Twitter), warned that if Israel engages in "further evil actions," Iran will launch another crushing attack.
U.S. Support for Israeli Defense
Meanwhile, the White House announced just hours before the attack that it had "indications Iran was preparing to launch a ballistic missile strike on Israel." The statement also reaffirmed the United States' active support for Israel's defense preparations.
Outlook for Further Developments
According to expert assessments, Israel is expected to respond to the Iranian attack while maintaining readiness for further potential escalation in the Middle East.
