Elbit Systems UK has announced the successful completion of the Critical Design Review (CDR) for the Dismounted Joint Fires Integrator (D-JFI) program, which aims to provide an Integrated Target Acquisition Solution for all branches of the British Armed Forces.

According to Elbit UK, the system enhances soldiers' ability to locate and identify targets while delivering crucial targeting information to enable faster, more accurate fire. Joint Terminal Attack Controllers (JTACs) and Fire Support Teams (FSTs) will utilize this system.

The next phase involves System Acceptance Testing in the coming months, with deliveries scheduled for the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) in 2025. After delivery, the JTAC solution is expected to be operational in 2025, while the FST variant is anticipated to enter service in 2026.

The D-JFI system allows users to identify targets with high accuracy and relay the information to close air support, maritime, or artillery units, enabling them to engage targets directly. To enhance usability, D-JFI integrates sensors with an intuitive application that incorporates imagery, situational awareness, and intelligence data.

The system employs both active and passive detection, allowing users to mask their signatures in combat. By using specialized software on a tablet, the information gathered by D-JFI is digitally transmitted to an artillery system or aircraft for immediate target engagement, while the operator remains concealed.

D-JFI includes several advanced technologies developed by Elbit Systems UK, such as the TORCH-X FIRES Targeting application, the AION-C multi-spectral electro-optic payload, the RATTLER XR and RATTLER H target designators, the Hattorix mounting system for rapid and accurate target identification, and the Smart-Hub power and data distribution hub and tactical router for C4I dismounted systems.
