The U.S. Army has signed a $28 million contract with Elbit Systems to purchase AN/PVS-14 night vision goggles, designed to be mounted on a soldier’s helmet.

These goggles enable soldiers to move quickly in the dark without additional vision equipment. According to a report by The Defense Post, the goggles are equipped with high-magnification lenses and infrared technology, allowing for clear vision in low-light conditions. The goggles have an effective range of approximately 150 meters.

The goggles are manufactured at Elbit's assembly plant in Roanoke, Virginia. Earlier this year, Elbit signed another contract worth $12 million to supply an unspecified number of similar night vision goggles to the U.S. Army.

In addition to Elbit, the Army has another supplier for night vision goggles: in April this year, a $256 million contract was signed with L3 Harris for the supply of additional goggles.
