The U.S. Department of State has approved the sale of additional Heavy Duty Tank Trailers (HDTTs) to Israel, valued at $164.6 million, including related equipment. The exact number of HDTTs approved was not disclosed.

This sale includes a previous Israeli request for HDTTs, initially estimated at $40.1 million, which fell below the threshold that requires notification to Congress. Leonardo DRS is the primary contractor, with deliveries expected to begin in 2027.

According to Janes, in March 2020, the U.S. Department of Defense awarded DRS Sustainment, a subsidiary of Leonardo DRS, a $12.3 million contract under the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program to supply Israel with an unspecified number of trailers. In December 2023, the company received another contract worth $15.4 million to produce additional HDTTs for Israel.
