Rheinmetall Presents New Concept of "Tank Destroyer" Equipped with Israeli Combat Systems

German defense company Rheinmetall has introduced a new "tank destroyer" concept, unveiled for the first time at the Eurosatory 2024 exhibition last June in Paris.
The German website Soldat & Technik reports that Israeli defense companies will produce key weapon systems for the new tank destroyer. The vehicle is armed with two of Rafael's Spike LR-2 anti-tank missile systems, each featuring two launchers. In addition to the Spike missiles, UVision’s Hero 120 loitering munition systems can also be integrated into the destroyer.
According to Soldat & Technik, the armored vehicle is built on a 4x4 platform, such as the Dingo 2 or Enok 14.5, but can be upgraded to a 6x6 or 8x8 configuration, including platforms like the Boxer.
For reconnaissance and surveillance, the vehicle is equipped with the EOS500 electro-optical sensor, capable of detecting and acquiring targets at distances of up to 11 km. It also comes with three Rheinmetall Recce S drones, which offer a flight time of up to 20 minutes and a reconnaissance range of 8 km.
In addition to the Spike and Hero systems, the destroyer features a Natter remote-controlled weapon station, armed with a 7.62 mm machine gun for self-defense and anti-drone operations.
