The Lithuanian Ministry of Defense announced that the Lithuanian Armed Forces have received MP7 A2 submachine guns from the German firearms manufacturer Heckler & Koch. While the exact number of units was not disclosed, the contract is valued at €1.56 million and spans a period of five years.
In its announcement, the Lithuanian MoD stated that the 4.6 x 30 mm caliber weapons were chosen for their tactical and technical features, including their lightweight design (just under 1,900 grams, according to the manufacturer), rapid-fire capability, and penetration power when equipped with armor-piercing ammunition.
A photo accompanying the MoD announcement offers a glimpse of the additional equipment acquired alongside the MP7 A2. The weapon is equipped with a signature suppressor and a Micro T2 red dot sight from Swedish manufacturer Aimpoint.
