The Polish Ministry of Defense has signed offset agreements with Boeing and General Electric for the purchase of 96 AH-64E Apache helicopters. The offset agreements total $25 million, while the value of the helicopter purchase itself amounts to $12 billion.
Polish Deputy Defense Minister Pawel Bejda noted that the acquisition is intended to strengthen Poland's readiness and security in light of the situation in Ukraine. The offset agreements include the maintenance of the helicopters, while the deal with General Electric pertains to procure the helicopter engines.
According to a Reuters report, the United States approved the sale of the helicopters to Poland in August 2023. Subsequently, agreements were signed allowing local Polish companies to maintain and repair the helicopters' radar equipment and missile guidance systems.
