Philippines to Receive Two More Israel Shaldag MK5 Vessels
These are the 7th and 8th vessels out of 9 fast patrol vessels purchased by the Philippine Navy at a value of approximately $195 million
The Philippine military website MaxDefense reports that the Philippine Navy is expected to receive the 7th and 8th Shaldag MK5 fast attack interdiction vessels, manufactured by Israel Shipyards, by late August or early September 2024.
The website notes that both vessels will be equipped with the Rafael MLR-NLOS missile launcher and Spike NLOS missiles. These vessels are part of a roughly $195 million deal to supply nine Shaldag MK5 fast attack interdiction vessels that the Philippine Navy signed with Israel Shipyards.
Consequently, only the 9th vessel of the class will be assembled in the Philippines as part of the acquisition contract.
