Colombia to purchase Barak MX missiles from IAI

Colombia is about to purchase Barak MX missiles manufactured by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI). According to Info Defensa the missiles, worth 131.2 million dollars, are intended for the air defense system of the Colombian army.

At the end of last week, an agreement was signed between the Colombian Air Force and the Israeli company, after last May the Colombian Army approved the purchase of the Israeli systems. The delivery of the missiles is expected to take place by the end of September 2026.

The website mentions that MX and Barak 8 missiles were offered by IAI to the Colombian Navy already in 2017.

This system was recently tested Israel’s naval arena. A long-range interceptor for 150 km was also tested in the process.

It is not yet clear which interceptors were sold to the Columbian system.
