At least eight people were wounded in an overnight shooting which took place in to consecutive scenes near the Western Wall in Jerusalem. Following a six-hour manhunt the suspected terrorist – who initially fled the scene – turned himself in to the Israeli security forces.

Among the wounded in this terror attack, which took place around 01:30 am, is a pregnant woman who whose condition is described as severe. She was taken to the hospital where her baby – who is in serious but stable condition – was delivered via emergency C-section.

The mother and one other man wounded in the attack are in critical condition, suffering life-threatening injuries. Six other people have been hospitalized with light to moderate injuries.

The suspected terrorist is 26-year-old Emil Siwadi, from East Jerusalem. He arrives in a taxi to a Jerusalem police station where he turned himself in. The terrorist brought along the handgun he used to commit the shooting attack.

“All those who seek our harm should know that they will pay a price for any harm to our civilians,” said Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid, shortly before the terrorist turned himself in. “Jerusalem is our capital city and a tourist center for all religions; the police and the IDF are working to restore calm and a sense of security in the city.
