American ammunition manufacturer Winchester Ammunition has recently been awarded a contract modification by the US Department of Defense for continued production of 5.56x45mm, 7.62x51mm and .50 caliber ammunition.
A few weeks ago, Winchester was also awarded a $15 million cost-plus contract to design a new manufacturing facility for the Next Generation Squad Weapon (NGSW). In January 2022, we reported that the company won a contract to supply 6.8 mm ammunition to the US army with a total value of $20 million. This contract is also part of the NGSW’s ammunition.
