The Canadian news website "Strathroy Age Dispatch" reported this week that Canada could provide small arms and anti-tank weapon systems to Ukraine worth $10 million, which were planned to be delivered to the Kurds in 2016.

The weapons include .50-calibre sniper rifles equipped with silencers, 60mm mortars, Carl Gustav anti-tank systems, grenade launchers, pistols, ammunition, thermal-imaging binoculars, cameras, scopes, and medical supplies. The weapons also include C6 7.62 mm caliber machine guns and C8 5.56mm assault rifles, which the Canadian Army uses.

According to the website, following the crisis with Russia, Ukraine has requested the support of the government of Canada in case of Russian aggression with the supply of weapons and military equipment.

Canada has not yet made an official decision on the delivery of these weapons to Ukraine but an announcement is expected to come after next week's virtual federal cabinet retreat. Canada has also offered Ukraine a $120 million dollar loan.
