“Red with Shame” updates: top officer demanded Chief of Staff distributes report – but Kochavi won’t even look at it

New discoveries concerning the “Red with Shame” report on which we reported exclusively yesterday in Israel Defense: Col. Alon Madanes, who wrote this explosive report about what he claims are corruption suspicions and moral degradation in the IDF, asked the Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen. Aviv Kochavi to distribute it to various IDF entities.

However, Kochavi refuses to even look at the report himself. At this point in time, he had only listened to Madanes’ claims. As far as known, tones were raised during a personal meeting held between Kochavi and Madanes. Still, the Chief of Staff is unwilling to distribute the report.

The private meeting was held in the Chief of Staff’s offices a few months after Madanes returned from assignment as the IDF ground forces attaché to the US.

Replying to Israel Defense’s query regarding Madanes’ demand to distribute the report, the IDF spokesperson does not comment on the matter at hand but says: “Morality is a core IDF value, and at any case where there is a deviation from this, it is and will be treated harshly. Every case in which information on this is provided is handled with the utmost seriousness.
