Winchester Awarded 6.8mm US Army Ammunition Contract

This contract, worth $20 million, is part of the Next Generation Squad Weapons (NGSW) program

Winchester, the largest manufacturer of small arms ammunition for the United States Military, announced this week that the U.S. Army awarded the company cost-plus and firm-fixed-price contracts totaling $20 million for the 6.8 mm Next Generation Squad Weapons (NGSW) program

According to the company announcement, the new ammunition contract will be handled by the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant (LCAAP), which is located in Independence, Missouri. This plant is the only government-owned, contractor-operated small caliber ammunition plant production facility in the United States. This $20 Million contract for 6.8nn ammunition comes as part of Winchester’s current eight billion dollar contract to operate the government-owned facility.

It will be recalled that in December 2021 IsraelDefense reported  thatWinchester won a contract worth $13 million for the supply of 7.62 mm ammunition to the US Army and this contract is Part of the $8 billion contract mentioned above.
