IAI, Rafael competing to supply missiles for Poland's new air defense system

Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and Rafael Advanced Defense Systems are among the companies competing to supply missiles for Poland's new advanced air defense system. The details of the plans are to be presented at the MSPO defense industry exhibition that will take place in the Polish city of Kielce on September 7-10.
The "Narew" air defense program, estimated to be worth about $8 billion, is designed to supply Poland with air defense within a range of 40km, as well as complement its "Wisla" air defense system that will be based on U.S.-made Patriot missiles.
The Defense News website reported that those competing to supply the missiles for the new system are Norway's Kongsberg, European defense corporation MBDA, IAI and Rafael. Rafael is offering SkyCeptor interceptors, hoping to continue its years of cooperation with the Polish defense industry, which manufactures Spike LR anti-tank missiles under license from Rafael.
Rafael confirmed that the company is offering SkyCeptor interceptors for the Polish air defense program along with American company Raytheon. Meanwhile, IAI is offering the Barak MX system to the Poles. IAI confirmed that the system is being offered to Poland.
Poland has recently announced a number of large military acquisitions, including a deal for 24 Turkish Bayraktar TB2 drones, and a plan to acquire 250 U.S.-made M1A2 Abrams tanks.
