The Sa'ar 6-class missile corvette Nitzachon arrived yesterday (Monday) in Israel. The ship arrived from Germany after a two-week voyage. The INS Nitzachon is the fourth Sa'ar 6-class missile corvette to join the Israeli Navy.

A ceremony marking the arrival of the ship at the Navy base in Haifa took place in the presence of the IDF Chief of Staff, Lieut. Gen. Aviv Kochavi, and the commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Eli Sharvit, with the participation of the crew of the INS Nitzachon that returned to Israel with the ship after a long stay at the shipyard in Germany.

The IDF Chief of Staff, Lieut. Gen. Aviv Kochavi, said "The INS Nitzachon is one of the world's most advanced and powerful warships, with new and modern weaponry that expresses above all the two main values that we stand for – the value of victory and the value of change. The main mission of the IDF is to win wars, and we must do so with the clearest result, in the shortest time and at the lowest cost. That is the goal that we set for ourselves when we developed the perception of operation for victory."

The commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Eli Sharvit, said "Welcome, INS Nitzachon, to your home port. The ropes tied to the pier symbolize the end of a long, complex and challenging chapter. We foresee a historic step, the transformation of a modern vision into a living reality. The changing security situation requires a force buildup in line with the new challenges."
