Elbit Systems of America and L3Harris Technologies have won a four-year, $92.4 million shared contract to manufacture helmet-mounted image intensification technology for U.S. Army aviators. Work is expected to be concluded on Aug. 22, 2025.

The third-generation Aviator Night Vision Imaging System (ANVIS), which is designed to help Army aircrews manage flight operations in low light or degraded visual environments, can operate with low-profile battery or power supply from aircraft, according to the Army.

Last June, Israel Defense reported that Elbit Systems of America was awarded two orders with an aggregate value of approximately $29 million by the U.S. Army to upgrade the U.S. Army active duty and National Guard rotary-wing aviation units' AN/AVS-6 ANVIS with high performance white phosphor image intensifier tubes.
