The Lithuanian Ministry of National Defence announced that the Lithuanian Army received its first batch of 50 Joint Light Tactical Vehicles (JLTVs) made by American company Oshkosh Defense. The ministry said it ordered a total of 200 JLTVs, worth €145 million, from the U.S. government in 2019. The U.S. Foreign Military Sale includes JLTV equipment, armaments, staff training, purchase and maintenance of spare parts, transportation, and installation of equipment, which along with the vehicles are scheduled to be delivered by 2024.
The ministry said the JLTVs were delivered without turrets, which it said will be installed soon and be armed with M2 QCB (Quick Change Barrel) 12.7mm machine guns. The JLTVs will reportedly be assigned to the "Iron Wolf" Mechanized Infantry Brigade and the Žemaitija Brigade, with priority given to units assigned to the National Rapid Reaction Force.
