Iran's Raisi: We will take action for lifting of sanctions

Iran will take steps for the lifting of the sanctions imposed on it by the U.S. The incoming president of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi, said Tuesday in a televised speech ahead of his inauguration on Thursday that the government will take action for the cancellation of the sanctions, and at the same time will take action to improve the living conditions of citizens suffering from the sanctions.

Regarding the attack on the oil tanker in the Red Sea, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said that the country will not hesitate to protect its security, and will respond promptly to any attack. The U.S. and Britain accused Iran of attacking the oil tanker and announced that they would work with their allies to respond to the attack. In London, there were hints that a cyberattack could be carried out against targets in Iran.   

Reuters said that Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has the last word on whether or not, and when, Iran returns to the Vienna talks on the nuclear agreement, but the change of president will remove the moderating influence on Khamenei exercised by outgoing President Hassan Rouhani.
