Putin claims Russia is capable of detecting and attacking any underwater or above-water enemy

President Putin had previously said that Russia could have sunk the British Navy ship in the Black Sea, if it wanted to do so, without causing World War III

"We are capable of detecting any underwater, above-water, airborne enemy and, if required, carry out an unpreventable strike against it," said President Putin in a speech marking Russian Navy Day in Saint Petersburg.

Reuters reported that Putin referred to an incident last month in the Black Sea when Russia said it fired warning shots and dropped bombs in the path of British warship HMS Defender to chase it out of the waters of the Crimean Peninsula. London denied the Russian accusations.

Putin said last month that if Russia wanted to do so, it could have sunk the British warship without starting World War III because the ship entered Crimean territorial waters. He also claimed that the U.S. was part of the "provocation" that occurred in the Black Sea.
