The deputy director-general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Massimo Aparo, who is actually head of the UN team inspecting Iran's nuclear facilities, will visit Iran this week for what has been called a "routine" visit, although no talks are planned for him in Tehran.

The agency is still waiting for Iran's response regarding the inspection and monitoring of nuclear sites. Kazem Gharibabadi, Iran’s envoy to the UN in Vienna, told IRNA that Deputy Director-General Aparo will visit Iran, but "although we are in constant contact with the agency, no talks are planned for him in Tehran."

Last week, Tehran announced it was restricting access by UN inspectors to the main uranium processing facility in Natanz, citing security considerations and what it called the Israeli attack on the facility in April.
