Gilat Satellite Networks, an Israeli provider of satellite networking technology services, announced last week that it was awarded multiple projects for armed forces in Latin America. Through its partner Newsat, a defense integrator in Latin America, Gilat will provide turnkey solutions for fixed, airborne, maritime and mobile military applications, the company said.

Gilat's defense satellite communication technology includes the SkyEdge II-c platform, modems, antenna terminals and block up converters (BUCs). According to the company, it provides multiple fixed and mobile communications solutions in Latin America to support the general command, Army, Navy and Air Force security, diversity and contingency needs, thus providing the confidence required for special and critical operations.

Earlier this month, as reported by Israel Defense, Gilat announced that it will supply satellite communications equipment to a military customer, but did not specify whether the customer is Israeli or foreign.
