Netanyahu meets head of Egyptian General Intelligence Service 

During the meeting, Prime Minister Netanyahu raised Israel's demand for the speedy return of IDF troops and citizens being held in the Gaza Strip. The mechanisms and processes to prevent the strengthening of Hamas were also discussed

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met today (Sunday) with the head of the Egyptian General Intelligence Service, Abbas Kamel, and a delegation of senior officials that accompanied him, at the Prime Minister's residence in Jerusalem. The two men discussed strengthening cooperation between Israel and Egypt, including on regional issues. They praised the relations, understandings and joint effort by the countries on various defense and diplomatic issues.     

During the meeting, Prime Minister Netanyahu raised Israel's demand for the speedy return of IDF troops and citizens being held in the Gaza Strip. In addition, the mechanisms and processes to prevent the strengthening of Hamas, and to prevent Hamas from using the resources that will be provided to the civilian population in the future, were also discussed. 

Intelligence Minister Eli Cohen and the head of the National Security Council, Meir Ben-Shabbat, also participated in the meeting. Earlier today, National Security Council head Meir Ben-Shabbat and the head of Egyptian General Intelligence Service had a long meeting regarding the issues.
