The Abu Dhabi-Singapore Joint Forum published an innovation call under which Singaporean companies are invited to submit offers for solutions of various challenges outlined by Emirati government entities dealing with innovation, including energy and water sustainability, transport efficiency and dense communities.

Singapore is ranked first globally in the smart city index of the Institute for Management Development, while Abu Dhabi is in 42nd place (out of 109) overall but in first place in the Middle East. Right after Abu Dhabi, in 43rd place, is Dubai.
