Situation heats up, with antitank fire in Gaza, and rockets fired at Jerusalem

Hamas carried out its threat, firing rockets toward Jerusalem at 18:00. A siren went off at the Knesset. The IDF said it identified seven launches from the territory of the Gaza Strip towards Israel

The IDF said there was antitank fire from the northern Gaza Strip into Israeli territory a short time ago. The details are being checked. 

The Israel Police said sirens went off a short time ago in the city of Jerusalem. Police forces deployed in the Western Wall plaza started to evacuate the hundreds of people present at the location to safe places.     

A siren also went off at the Knesset. 

The Israel Police said due the rocket fire toward Jerusalem and the surrounding area, and a number of rockets that landed in the territory of the Mateh Yehuda Regional Council, the commander of the Jerusalem District, Doron Turgeman, requested organizations to stop the "Dance of Flags" parade and to disperse the participants via buses.   

The IDF said in a follow-up to the report on sirens in the cities of Jerusalem and Beit Shemesh, seven launches from the territory of the Gaza strip towards Israel were identified. One launch was intercepted by air defense troops.
