According to reports in Syria, the Israeli Air Force attacked targets in the area of Latakia. The reports said one citizen was killed and six were wounded in the attack that allegedly struck a plastics factory.

Video clips, allegedly from the area of the incident, were posted on Twitter. "According to the official report, the areas that were attacked in Syria were the eastern part of the city of Latakia, the city of Masyaf in Hama province and the town of Hifa," the Mako website reported about the attack.

"A senior military defector said that the attack hit the town of Jableh in northwestern Latakia province, the stronghold of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's minority Alawite sect. Assad comes from the village of Qerdaha located 28 km southeast of Latakia, the same village where his father, Hafez al-Assad, is buried."
