Hospitals in Queensland and aged care centers fell victim to a cyberattack, and as a result some of their internal systems were disrupted.

9News reported that the entire internal IT system of UnitingCare in Queensland was attacked by ransomware software, with all UCQ hospitals and aged care homes working without IT systems until further notice.

The attack impacted all operational systems including internal staff email and patient operation booking, forcing staff to revert to paper-based operations for the foreseeable future.

Doctors were told not to expect to be able to access vital patient information and details such as x-rays. UnitingCare confirmed the attack but did not provide a timeframe on when systems will be back to normal.
