The U.S. is committed to assisting Ukraine in its self-defense needs, U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin declared at a meeting of NATO ministers in Brussels. Austin said that the U.S. will continue to provide Ukraine with assistance, but did not elaborate. Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Moscow is interested in a peaceful solution of the conflict in Ukraine.

In the field, the entry of two American destroyers into the Black Sea was apparently cancelled, and Russian warships entered the Black Sea for "artillery fire exercises". The State Department in Washington declined to comment on the cancellation of the entry by the USS Roosevelt and the USS Donald Kook into the Black Sea, but the Turkish Foreign Ministry confirmed that the Americans cancelled the move by the two destroyers. The Pentagon announced that it continues to closely monitor the area, and that it routinely operates in the Black Sea and throughout the area.

On its part, Russia officially announced that a unit of the Black Sea fleet sailed into the Black Sea for "artillery fire exercises". The three ships, the Admiral Makarov and two corvettes, are capable of carrying Kalibr and Onyx anti-ship cruise missiles. Earlier, it was announced in Moscow that 15 warships from the Caspian Sea fleet were transferred to the Black Sea.
