The large-scale Red Flag air combat exercise started in the US and will continue until February 12 at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada. The exercise is the responsibility of the 414th Combat Training Squadron, and its goal this year is to provide air crews with experience in a wide range of sorties and air combat under maximum safety conditions.

The Red Flag 21 exercise brings together 2,400 men and women, including air crews from 20 U.S. states and air forces of allied countries. Among the planes taking part in this year's exercise are the F-22, F-16, F-35, F-15E, EA-18G and A-10.

The organizer of the exercise told UK Defense Journal that this year the participants will be trained in combat readiness, capability and survivability under realistic conditions in an electronic threat environment. There will also be training in cooperation between pilots of different air forces in relevant ground and space matters.

The command of the 414th squadron said that there is great importance in training of cooperation, joint flights and situations similar to real situations in the air and on the ground.
