Dutch Special Forces to receive new shooting ranges
The facilities are intended to provide the Special Forces with the necessary infrastructure for such training based on modern criteria

The Special Forces of the Dutch Armed Forces will receive two new shooting ranges, each consisting of a combination of a shooting range and a sniper center. It is estimated that the budget for the construction of the two ranges will be 25 million to 100 million euros.
The German website Soldat & Technik said that the facilities are intended to provide the Special Forces with the necessary infrastructure to practice shooting based on modern criteria. Both are to be built according to the same specifications. The shooting range, where both live and practice ammunition will be used, is to facilitate close-range training including training for urban warfare. The sniper center will have a 100 meter, 270 degree indoor lane. In order to ensure the safety of the training team and the operating staff, both facilities will have mobile bullet traps and a mechanical ventilation system, the report said.
The facility in Soesterberg is to be supported by forces from the Brigade Speciale Beveiligingsopdrachten (BSB), a Special Forces unit of the Dutch gendarmerie that can be compared to Germany's GSG 9, and the Netherlands Maritime Special Operations Forces (MARSOF), a Special Forces unit of the Dutch Navy, from 2021. The facility in Ossendrecht is to be available as a new training facility for the Corps Commandotroepen (KCT), the special forces of the Dutch army, beginning in 2024, according to the report.
