US-based handgun manufacturer Sig Sauer announced last week the recent achievement of two significant milestones by its Modular Handgun System (MHS) program. First, the delivery of the 200,000th MHS pistol manufactured at the Sig Sauer facility in Newington, New Hampshire; and second, the delivery of MHS pistols to all branches of the U.S. military during the same month for the first time. It should be mentioned that one year ago Sig Sauer announced that it had delivered the 100,000th M17/M18 Pistol to the armed forces.
The MHS includes the M17 full-size and M18 compact 9mm, striker-fired pistols. It is a P320-based platform featuring coyote-tan PVD coated stainless steel slides with black controls. The MHS utilizes both 17-round and 21-round magazines, and is equipped with SIGLITE front night sights, removable night sight rear plates, and manual safeties.
