The Infodefensa website reported Tuesday that the Spanish company USP (Uniformidad y Suministros de Protección) has won a contract to supply 630 Heckler & Koch G36 5.56x45 mm assault rifles to Spain's Civil Guard for over 1 million euros. The delivery of the new rifles will be made by December 15.

The rifles will mainly go to the Civil Guard units deployed in international peacekeeping missions in places like Iraq, Lebanon, Senegal, Colombia and Mauritania. Each rifle kit includes a G-36 K version rifle with a 1.5 x optical sight, two 30-round magazines, a rifle holder, a cleaning case, a facemask and a user manual in Spanish.

The contract process was conducted by the Headquarters of Economic Affairs of the Army Logistics Support Command (MALE), which invited three companies to submit bids: USP, Ranninger SA and Heckler & Koch Gmbh. USP was the only one that submitted a proposal.
