India successfully tests indigenous antitank missile

A successful test-firing of India's indigenous NAG antitank missile was carried out on Thursday. The test was conducted in the state of Rajasthan and declared a success. The Defense Ministry announced that the missile "can engage highly fortified enemy tanks in day or night conditions".   

The 1,900mm-long Indian missile has a range of four kilometers and the capability of locking on a target before launch. In the opinion of the Indian authorities, the statistics of the missile are better than those of the US Javelin missile or the Israeli Spike.  

The Indian Army previously announced that it will need 40,000 antitank missiles during the next 20 years.
