The German website Soldat & Technik reports that the British Army has procured additional Mk3 laser light modules for 2.75 million British pounds, equivalent to around 3 million euros.

The LLM Mk3 from Germany's Rheinmetall Soldier Electronics is offered under the product name VarioRay. In the version used by the British armed forces, the add-on device weighing around 240 grams offers a white light lamp, a visible red laser target marker, an infrared pointer, an electrically focusable infrared illuminator and an optional interrogator for friend/foe target recognition. The LLM Mk3 is attached to the weapon via a Mil-Std 1913 rail and operated via a trigger cable. The light source can be selected using a rotary switch. All light sources can be regulated continuously, and all lasers can be adjusted by block adjustment. The VarioRay is waterproof up to 30 meters. In 2014, Rheinmetall received a framework agreement for the delivery of the LLM Mk3.

Soldat & Technik noted that the VarioRay LLM is also part of the German military's “infantryman of the future" system, and has been introduced in the Swiss Army as the LLM 19.
