Flight 971 (the country code of Abu Dhabi) of El Al landed in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. It marked the first time in the history of the State of Israel for an official El Al flight to land in Abu Dhabi. In the past, Israelis had to arrive via connecting flights in order to conceal the identity of their country of origin.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman was among those who welcomed the delegations at the airport. The flight passed through the airspace of Saudi Arabia.
