The US Defense Department announced that Lockheed Martin has been awarded a $15 billion contract from the Air Force for its C-130J program, as well as a $935 million contract from the Navy to support its F-35 fighters.

In a July 17 statement on its website, the department said the Air Force contract is for development, integration, retrofitting and production activities for all variants of its C-130J transport aircraft. Work on the contract, which involves Foreign Military Sales and is the result of a sole-source acquisition, is expected to be completed in July 2030.

The contract with the Navy is for support equipment, autonomic logistics information system hardware, training systems, site activations and integrated contractor support for the F-35 Lightning II, the department said.  It added that items in the contract will result in improvements to the reliability, availability, maintainability and total ownership cost of the advanced fighter for the Air Force, Marine Corps, Navy, non-Department of Defense participants and Foreign Military Sales customers.
