Report: Sapiens Pays $250,000 in Bitcoin for Ransomware Attack

Hackers reportedly took advantage of the security weakness caused by move to remote work due to COVID-19.

Israeli software company Sapiens International fell victim to a ransomware attack, paying $250,000 in Bitcoin to hackers that threatened to shut down its computers, according to Israeli business publication Calcalist.

According to Calcalist, the hackers reportedly took advantage of the security weakness caused by the massive move to remote work in the wake of COVID-19.

Additionally, Calcalist said that the company did not report the matter to the US or Israeli exchange authorities and that Sapiens neither confirmed nor denied the report.
