Israel's Cobwebs Technologies, a specialized open-source web intelligence company that supports national security agencies, law enforcement agencies, and corporate security departments in rapidly identifying and locating malicious threat actors, has hired Maj. Gen. (Res.) Ronny Numa to manage the company's new crisis forecasting and management center for central and local governments.

Numa served as commander of the IDF's elite "Shaldag" and "Duvdevan" units as well as head of the Central Command. Recently he led the coronavirus task force in the Israeli city of Bnei Brak following an outbreak in the city.

In a statement, Cobwebs said "Mr. Numa will be responsible for establishing and managing the Central Government Crisis Forecasting and Management (P4D) center, which is designed for decision-makers at all levels, including mayors, governors, and heads of state. The P4D center provides tools for managing and implementing lockdown exit strategies by forecasting trends during pandemics, natural disasters, terrorist attacks, and more."

The center is to be staffed 24 hours a day, enabling decision-makers to anticipate and manage future crises according to emerging trends, while providing their citizens with transparency and managing the affected area in the best possible way, in order to prevent and reduce national crisis events, Cobwebs said.

Designed by intelligence experts with operational experience in the field, Cobwebs is a machine learning and artificial intelligence powered web intelligence and investigation platform with strong natural language processing capabilities. It extracts targeted intelligence from Big Data and automatically generates intelligent insights.

The Cobwebs platform works in a similar manner to an Internet search engine, conducting a deep search through open-source information located on all layers of the web and on all social media platforms and blogs.
