Elbit Systems has launched an autonomous multirotor Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) Unmanned Aerial System (UAS)

According to the company, the new micro-drone, called MAGNI, is designed to enhance the situational awareness capabilities of mobile forces significantly.

The lightweight (2.5kg) system can be deployed and launched in less than one minute from any combat vehicle, Elbit said. It includes a thermal payload, a communications suite (dual S-Band or LTE), an automatic coordinate tracking capability, as well as a built-in interface with Battle Management Systems (BMS).

MAGNI can carry payloads of up to 350g, has a range of up to 3km, a maximum operational altitude of 4000ft, and 30 minutes of endurance.

The new micro-drone enables vehicle-mounted forces at the squad, platoon, and company levels to gather beyond-the-hill visual intelligence during day and night, and seamlessly feed target information to command and control systems.
