Tehran has announced a decision to further scale down its commitments to the 2015 nuclear deal.

In a televised speech on Wednesday, President Hassan Rouhani said Iran will begin developing centrifuges to speed up uranium enrichment.

“From Friday, we will witness research and development on different kinds of centrifuges and new centrifuges and also whatever is needed for enriching uranium in an accelerated way,” Rouhani said. “All limitations on our Research and Development will be lifted on Friday.”

The move marks Iran’s third breach of the 2015 nuclear deal with world powers.

The move comes as the United States imposes further sanctions, targeting what it called an “oil for terror” network of companies, ships and people it alleges is run by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) and Hezbollah.
