An RAF Typhoon on Monday carried out a practice diversion to Israel’s Ramat David Airbase.
“This event, the first RAF fighter to land at Ramat David since 1948, reflects the enduring friendship between our two air forces,” the IAF said on its Twitter account.
According to the Royal Air Force, “this highlights the value of Israel as a diversion location for aircraft on Operation Shader.”
Operation Shader is the operational code name used for the UK contribution to the US-led campaign against the Islamic State.
